Scott McTominay posts Manchester United injury update

Post by admin » Fri Nov 15, 2019 5:23 am

Scott McTominay hopes to be back as soon as possible after the injury he picked up in Manchester United's 3-1 win against Brighton at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The midfielder, who has been key for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side this season, went down in injury time after picking up a knock to his ankle and had to be treated on the pitch by the club's medical staff.

He managed to hobble off the pitch with help from United staff but went down again in the technical area before being taken down the tunnel on a stretcher after the final whistle.

The 22-year-old pulled out of the Scotland squad for their upcoming Euro 2020 qualifiers after having a scan on his ankle on Monday.

While there has been no official update on his fitness from United, the midfielder provided an update on his Instagram page on Tuesday evening having been officially awarded United's second goal in the 3-1 win after it was initially recorded as an own goal.

Alongside a picture of his goal celebration he wrote: "Knew I celebrated for a reason. On a serious note I'm working hard to be back on the pitch as soon as possible. Thank you for the support."

McTominay's goal against Brighton means he's taken his tally in the league to three in 12 games and Solskjaer will be hoping he can build on that upon his return from injury.

The United manager should be able to give an official update on McTominay's injury in his press conference a week on Friday ahead of the Sheffield United game.
