The real reason Paul Pogba was left out of Manchester United squad for Burnley fixture

Manchester United left out Paul Pogba for last night's game with Burnley with the midfielder not in the travelling squad at Turf Moor.

The United man has returned to the fold as a substitute in the last two matches having recovered from an ankle injury.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solksjaer believes he will be welcoming a world class talent back into the fold when the 26-year-old does return to the side but said he will need to be 'drip fed' back into the starting XI.

"He’s worked really hard but then it’s been a long lay-off," said Solksjaer earlier this month. "So we’ll have to drip-feed him in and play gradually more and more."

And, having appeared as a sub in the last two games, the Frenchman did not feature in the 2-0 victory at Turf Moor.

Now it appears Pogba has suffered a minor setback in the convincing win over Newcastle United on Boxing Day.

Solskajer said after the game: "He reacted to that one (Newcastle) When you’ve been out for such a while, you know it is always going to take time to get it right."

Speculation will continue into Pogba's future at Manchester United.
